770717 - Letter to Ghanasyama and Gurudas from Tamal Krsna

My dear Ghanasyama Prabhu and Gurudas Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. I have been instructed by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada to thank you for your report dated July 1st, 1977.

Just before Srila Prabhupada received a report, He had been thinking of how much the devotees sacrifice on behalf of Krsna. His Divine Grace was crying thinking of the activities of Haridas Thakur, Prahlad Maharaja, and now of our devotees in Mayapur, who suffered an attack from Mohammedan villagers. So He was feeling very heartfelt sympathy. Then He said, We are trying to fulfill the mission of Caitanya Mahaprabhu – He wanted that in every nook and corner of the world Krsna consciousness would be spread. We are trying our best but we are very limited. Still our books are being accepted everywhere. At this point I mentioned to Him that your report had arrived and Srila Prabhupada’s emotions changed to a broad smile and He said, “Bring it at once.” After hearing your report, His Divine Grace said, “It is very kind of you to give me this report. I am very encouraged by it. Yes, the Communists are very hungry for this transcendental knowledge of Krsna consciousness. Now by your mercy it is being given to them.” When Srila Prabhupada heard of the practical ideas for how to distribute the books in Bulgaria, He did not like the idea of an exchange program, book for book. He said, “Who will purchase their books when we get them?” But regarding the idea of taking their currency and using it within Bulgaria, Srila Prabhupada liked this very much providing “we can use this money for printing books if that is possible.” Other than these comments Srila Prabhupada listened with rapt attention to your blow by blow report and smiled broadly at many points. After your amazing report I said to His Divine Grace, Ghanasyama Prabhu is the most amazing salesman in the universe. Srila Prabhupada immediately replied, “Not only a great salesman, a sincere servant.” You have His blessings, undoubtedly.
