770622 - Letter to Giriraj from Tamal Krsna

My dear Giriraj Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. I have been instructed by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada to reply your letter dated 17th June, 1977, and I also wish to thank you for the letter to me of the same date.

His Divine Grace very much appreciated the sentiments expressed in your letter. He said, “They are all very high realizations.” I must say as a third party hearing these letters, they are most relishable to read to His Divine Grace as He sits with His eyes closed deeply meditating on all of the words which you write.

Regarding your meeting with the mayor, what was decided about moving the garbage bin? Also, what has been decided about the land acquisition case? Srila Prabhupada has sent a telegram to Indian Overseas Bank reading as follows:

ALL MY GOOD WISHES FOR YOUR SUCCESSFUL BANK ENTERPRISE IN HARE KRSNA LANDPLEASE CREDIT RUPEES 17,500 FROM SYNDICATE BANK VRNDAVANA AND RUPEES 48,000 APPROXIMATELY FROM STATE BANK VRNDAVANA TO MY ACCOUNT BEGINNING BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI

Actually after going to the bank today I am informing you of the actual amount transferred which is: Rs. 17,500 from Syndicate Bank and Rs. 50,389/96 from State Bank of India. Since you did not inform us of the bank account number the money has been transferred to the name of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. As far as I know it is being sent by mail transfer from Syndicate Bank and by demand draft from State Bank. Please immediately inform us when this money has been received at the bank, as well as informing us of what the bank account number is. There is no need of filling out any further forms. Simply cross out the line about checking facilities as we do not require them. Regarding the fixed deposit receipts, these will by given to the bank by September.

Regarding the Gwalia Tank Safe Deposit vault, Srila Prabhupada does not want to renew it. Rather He will want to get a vault at the new I.O.B. Branch. Have they made a safe deposit vault arrangement as promised? In the letter from Central Bank of India, it mentioned that we must inform them one week prior to the date of cancellation, which is 20th June, 1977.Of course this is not possible since we received the letter too late. But the manager is our good friend so I think he will allow the somewhat late advice. Please find enclosed a copy of the letter advising them to cancel the vault facilities. Srila Prabhupada said that, “Since Mr. K.J. Somaiya is a very critical man, so if he is inclined, it is very good.”

I have no objection to Gauri Das being a pujari in Bombay. But knowing Gauri Das, he may not be willing to return. Anyway let us see. Regarding Mahamaya Prabhu you may write the details of the situation to Adi Kesava Swami in New York. I have already advised him as per your instruction.

Surabhi Swami gave a report to Srila Prabhupada and after some time His Divine Grace seemed satisfied that the project would open with most of the work completed. From Surabhi Swami’s report to me, it does not seem that Bali Mardan Prabhu has been very helpful with the construction. Anyway he is supposed to concentrate on managing the guesthouse, so whether he is preparing himself in this way?

Srila Prabhupada’s health is more or less maintaining which means that it is not greatly improved neither it is deteriorating. Everyday He goes to the temple for darshan of Krsna-Balarama for half an hour from 9:30 to 10 and He is translating at night time.
