770610 - Letter to Dhruva from Tamal Krsna

My dear Dhruva Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated April 5th, 1977 which has only now just reached me. Your letter shows how nicely you have made advancement in the past three years of your Krsna consciousness life. I am also remembered of many fond experiences that we shared together when I received your letter. Your life is so much glorious because you are always engaged in preaching from city to city the message of Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Yes, at first it is easy to give up the big attachments, but it is those small attachments which lie like weeds which must actually be given up if one wants to make advancement in the long run. Srila Prabhupada described this as the seeds lying within the heart. There can be no seeds of sinful desires left if we want to make advancement. There are so many of these seeds due to our past habits both in this and previous lifetimes. But Prabhupada describes that the method for rooting out these seeds is complete surrender to the spiritual master. How is this done? It is done by taking His words as your life and soul. Dedicate your life to carrying out Srila Prabhupada’s instructions and there will be no such seeds left anymore.

Now dedicate your life to distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books. His Divine Grace’s health is not at all good as you know. But Prabhupada has said emphatically that the more you distribute my books, that will give me life. So please pray fervently and serve fervently at His lotus feet. Hoping this meets you well.
