My dear Adi Kesava Maharaj,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letters dated 25th March and 28th March, 1977 respectively. In regards to the court case after discussing it again with Srila Prabhupada, His Divine Grace concluded that it would be better to forgive the mother. Public opinion will surely be with her and although we do not care very much about public opinion the point is that it is unlikely that the judge will meet out any punishment. At least this was the case in the Los Angeles situation. Best if you can get Schwed investigated by the New York State Bar Association for his nonsense. That will be good. Mercy is not always understood. However, Arjuna wanted to forgive but Krishna said fight. So ultimately you decide what is best in regard to filing suit against the mother etc., based upon the overall situation. Srila Prabhupada said you should take full advantage of the TV and other coverages and preach that the modern civilization is keeping everyone in ignorance about the mission of life. The body is the machine and within the body is the owner and machine operator. We are preaching about the importance of the machine operator, not the machine. The whole world is saying that the machine is operating without the operator. That is the ignorance which we are trying to remove and they are saying brainwash. Let anyone, scientist, philosophers, etc., anyone come forward and we can convince them. This is scientific. This point should be stressed.

What is that lawsuit for Bali Mardan’s bindery machine?

From the experience of Madhukanta leaving we should learn that anyone who cannot follow the regulative principles should not be given any responsibility. This point you should be convinced of and thus save yourself so much trouble in trusting those who are not acting worthy of trust. Srila Prabhupada’s first order is to follow the four regulative principles. So if one is not faithful to the spiritual master he cannot be trusted.

Srila Prabhupada was very pleased to hear of the success of the prasadam carts and requested you to increase them more and more.

Please let me know after further experience your opinion regarding record distribution effects on book distribution. You have given your projection for April for our zone of $83,000.00 to the book fund. My request is that for May you aim for $100,000.00 and never again drop under that mark. That will reinstate us in our old position. Please have Tripurari Maharaja write me at least once a month about Radha-Damodar Party and book distribution.

Tell Paramananda that Srila Prabhupada says that Krishna will help him to get better. First let him become treated and cured before he attempts to start working again. It is very unfortunate that the building inspector has temporarily stopped construction. Paramanada assured me that we were approved with the required codes. So from this you can learn that everything must be done puka in the future. Immediately rectify the sewage problem so the building can be finished. Their Lordships Radha-Damodar must be there before the start of the summer and the additional living space is very much needed.

Yes, try to engage Jim Champion and his friends. Perhaps you can form some management committee and make them a part of it and this will further insure their help. Regarding Gour Hari, don’t count on him to be steady as he is having difficulty following the regulative principles.

It is very encouraging to know that the Indian community in Harrisburg and Cincinnati are lending their support. Are they actually prepared to give you a firm in the Cincinnati area, whether you can manage it? This you should discuss with Paramananda. Regarding the church in Harrisburg, why the bus crew should move there? I think it will be difficult to get parts for the buses in such a place as Harrisburg.

Now that you have the help of such good men as Urjasvat and Pudara that should be a great boon. Many men of their caliber will rally around you if you keep enthusiastic and strictly follow the orders of your spiritual master. Do not compromise but push Krishna Consciousness forward. Always stress on Krishna and that will be enlivening to everyone.

The loft in the village sounds nice. Can you send photos? What is the rent? How long is it leased for? Do you have the written permits for Fifth Avenue Rathayatra?

Please encourage Dinnath in his life-membership program in Boston. I am glad that Aja is realizing his responsibility now.

I can see from your letters that you are doing a considerable amount of traveling. That is good for a sannyasi to travel. He becomes detached and recognized. But do not simply travel around and get nothing accomplished. A monkey also jumps from place to place but what is his business.

Regarding my office it can be used by Drystadyumna Maharaj when he comes there.

We are still awaiting the court transcriptions. Where are they? I have heard that the district court has found Kirtanananda Maharaj guilty for the death of many oxen. What are the facts behind this report?

Did you ask Srila Prabhupada about the worship of Salagram Sila for New York temple?

Enclosed is a copy of the court case as it appeared in Times of India. All gentlemen in India are aware of the victory. In order to achieve the victory many persons helped us, especially in India.
