My dear Ghana Syama prabhu and Mahabuddi prabhu,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
Ever since a letter arrived describing you activities with the BBT travelling library sankirtan, Srila Prabhupada has been praising your activities whenever he had a roomful of guests. Many times he would call me in to read from the letter of Rameswara about your activities how you contacted various professors who were taking full sets of Bhagavatam and C. C.I also became enthusiastic to hear what you were doing, and I secretly wanted to join you. Last night Srila Prabhupada started talking to Bhagavan das and Karandhar and I about the importance of the library distribution program and he became stronger and stronger about its importance. “Organize this.” He said, there are 75,000 libraries in your country. We can print 100,000 books at a time and libraries will automatically take 75,000. This is the most important distribution. On and on he went. Finally I couldn’t contain myself and said, “I can go to the U.S. and organize it if you like.” He immediately accepted it as a good proposal, and we began to arrange for who would replace me as secretary were I to go to the U.S.
It appears that Brahmananda Swami can come and take my place, but a suitable replacement for him in Africa has to be arranged. Karandhar is flying there shortly to investigate. Therefore, please do not go off on some other engagement. I told Srila Prabhupada today that I had heard you two had stopped the library work and were doing political campaigning. He did not like to hear it and said the library work is of the most importance. I think by now Karandhar has reached you by telephone and asked you to wait for me. I am very eager to take this new chance and join you again. We can travel all over the country and distribute books in libraries. I also heard that Hridayananda Maj. wanted you, Ghanasyama to go to Trinidad. So please do not go. There is nothing more important than the work you were doing. You cannot imagine how much stress Srila Prabhupada is giving this, and he is encouraging me to go and organize it. So we can have a number of parties traveling in the country. When my replacement arrives here, I will want to go see Rameswara in L.A., for organization. But you two prabhus figure very importantly in this work, because you have made major breakthroughs at Yale and Temple. If you can, please write me in Paris up until June 15.I am simply waiting now for the day we can be joined for seriously taking up this work together and not resting until every university and city library in the country has Srila Prabhupada’s books.
Your servant,
Satsvarupa das Goswami
