680823 - Letter to Consulate General of USA from Bruce N. Scharf

New York,

23 August, 1968
From Bruce N Scharf
Consulate General of the United States of America
800 Place Victoria
Montreal 3, Quebec, Canada

Dear Sir:

I, the undersigned president of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, beg to state that His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami is the appointed Acharya (chief minister of religion) of this institution.

ISKCON is incorporated pursuant to the Religious Corporation Law of the State of New York #7708-66 and its Certificate of Incorporation is duly filed with the County Clerk of New York County.

ISKCON maintains branches in addition to our New York headquarters at the following addresses:

518 Frederick St., San Francisco, Calif.
411 B West Water St., Santa Fe, New Mexico
95 Glenville Avenue, Boston, Mass.
5364 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif.
15 La Salle Ave., Buffalo, N.Y.

The Swamiji’s presence is very urgently required to transact the religious activities of all the centers, and the Society is pleased to provide all his expenditures for living, travelling, and publication of his books. His books are already selling very nicely, one of them being published by The Macmillian Company of New York. So, he personally has sufficient income, in addition to our own contribution for his maintenance, so that His Divine Grace will never be a public charge. His unique services are profoundly needed by this religious denomination in the United States, and he will be engaged in only performing the ministerial duties of this religious institution.

Very truly yours,
Bruce N. Scharf
President
