671207 - Letter to Madhusudan from Achyutananda

Calcutta,

7 December, 1967

From Achyutananda

My dear Madhusudan Prabhu,

Please accept my humbe obeisances, I received your warm letter yesterday with great joy. I told Swamiji about the possibility of your coming to India and He said “VerrryGud” If this new devotee Blanche can take over your typing position come at once. Don’t get married! (Ramanuja told me that the Santa Fe temple is probably closed down now do to a puffed up husband and wife team.) I often remember those NY Kirtans and miss yours as well as all the godbrothers association. If you can come and study in India it will be so nice. Are you still studying sanskrit? If you have the ability try to learn Bengali. It is the richest language as far as Vaishnava literature goes. Perhaps you could come with Brahmananda Prabhu. Anyway it is all in His Hands.

One recipe: Boil potatoes and one veg in plain water, then make into paste and then into small paddies and fry in ghee, very good for Ekadasi. Also grind coconut and mix with molasses and roll into balls. Others to come.

As far as those householders go I’m sure they are trying their best but I just wanted to mention that it is a great strain. You know what Swamiji says about Itching and scratching better not to aggravate this bodily inconvenience.

You can have a very nice little festival at the next feast. Decorate Eric and give him a special raised seat. Offer him the best prasadam. This is how they celebrate the Vamana Avatar. Eric becomes a deity of Vamana (dwarf). Everyone should offer their respects by touching his feet He is now become a Vamana Rupa.

Hare Krishna Prabhu,

Achyutananda das Brahmachari
