prathame murāri-gupta prabhure nā miliyā
bāhirete paḍi’ āche daṇḍavat hañā


SYNONYMS

prathame — at first; murāri-gupta — Murāri Gupta; prabhure — to Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu; — without; miliyā — meeting; bāhirete — outside; paḍi’ — falling down; āche — was there; daṇḍavat — falling flat like a stick; hañābecoming so.


TRANSLATION

Murāri Gupta at first did not meet the Lord but rather remained outside the door, falling down like a stick to offer obeisances.
