rājā kahe,-upavāsa, kṣaura-tīrthera vidhāna
tāhā nā kariyā kene khāiba anna-pāna


SYNONYMS

rājā kahe—the King said; upavāsa—fasting; kṣaura—shaving; tīrthera vidhāna—this is the regulation for visiting a holy place; tāhā—that; nā kariyā—without performing; kene—why; khāiba—they shall eat; anna-pāna—solid and liquid food.


TRANSLATION

The King then asked the Bhaṭṭācārya, "Why have the devotees not observed the regulations for visiting the pilgrimage place, such as fasting, shaving and so on? Why have they first eaten prasāda?"
