śuni' prabhu kahena,—"tumi nā jāna dharma-marma
svāmi-ājñā pāle,—ei pati-vratā-dharma


SYNONYMS

śuni — hearing; prabhu kahena — Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu said; tumi — you; jāna — do not know; dharma-marma — real religious principles; svāmi — of the husband; ājñā — order; pāle — obeys; ei — this; pati-vratā-dharma — the religious principle of a chaste woman.


TRANSLATION

Hearing this, Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu said, "My dear Vallabha Bhaṭṭa, you do not know religious principles. Actually, the first duty of a chaste woman is to carry out the order of her husband.
