dūre gāna śuni' prabhura ha-ila āveśa
strī, puruṣa, ke gāya,—nā jāne viśeṣa


SYNONYMS

dūre — from a distant place; gāna — song; śuni — hearing; prabhura — of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu; ha-ila — there was; āveśa — ecstatic emotion; strī — woman; puruṣa — man; ke gāya — who sings; jāne — could not understand; viśeṣa — particularly.


TRANSLATION

Hearing the song from a distance, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu immediately became ecstatic. He did not know whether it was a man or a woman singing.
