Prabhupāda: . . . to live like them, to dance like them, to dress like them, to smoke like them, to stand like them. (laughter)

Hari-śauri: What . . . bara? That means?

Prabhupāda: Bara-sāb. Bara-sāb—big master.

Hari-śauri: Oh, big master.

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: Sāhīb or sāb?

Prabhupāda: The word is sāhīb, but short cut, sāb. (break) . . . standing for twelve years here? No.

Hari-śauri: No, he's show-biz, show-business. (break)

Devotees: Hare Kṛṣṇa, good morning.

Prabhupāda: Adha ghanta aur usko samadhan kar dega baki samay Bhagavad-gītā. ye hone chahiye, aur sara jeevan paisa-paisa subah gaye din bhar idhar-udhar ghoomna, ye jeevan hai aaj tak yahi seekhaya hai khoob parishram karo aur khoob sex maza karo bus yehi modern civilization. (In half an hour he will be comforted and the rest of the time Bhagavad-gītā—this should be the practice. Whole life money, money—they go in the morning and whole day roam around here and there, this is life till today. This is what has been taught—work hard, have sex, have fun that's all—this is modern civilization.) This is modern civilization. Modern. Khoob parishram karo khoob khao khoob maza karo ye sab. Aur jeevan ka kya udeshya hai ye sab wo sikhaya bhi nahi. Wohi suar ke jaise anubhuti me rakh deta hai. Sastra mana karte hain. (Work hard, eat well, have fun all this. And what is the purpose of life? This is not taught, life like a pig. That keeps them in the feeling of pig. Sastra declines this.) Nahi nāyaṁ deho deha-bhājāṁ nṛ-loke kaṣṭān kāmān arhate viḍ-bhujāṁ ye (SB 5.5.1). Don't be hogs. Be human being. This is hog civilization. Din bhar parishram karo, khoob khao, phir ladki sex karo, ye suar ka jindage, isiliye gali kyon diya hai uska life wahi hai. (Work hard the whole day, eat well, then girl, have sex—this is hog's life. That is why the abuse he has used in his life, it's pig's life.) Sex. Ye jo hamara bharath me hai, every jagah hai, suar ko bahut gali diya jata hai. Uska life wohi hai. (The ones which are there in India, it's present everywhere, Pigs are scolded a lot. That's his life.)

Devotee: Suar ka bacha bolte hain. (They say son of a pig.)

Prabhupāda: Han. Khoob din bhar parishram, din raat, aur khaye ghoo, aur jahan thoda tagda hogaya bas sex. (Yes. Day and night he works hard, and then eats stool and if he gets little strength then sex.) Don't care whether he's mother, sister or brother. No, no. This is going on.

Devotee: Bharath ka charitra bahut gir gaya Prabhu. (The character of India has fallen down Prabhu.)

Prabhupāda: Gir to jayega. (It will fall.)

Devotee: Bahut hi. Jidhar hum the udhar devotee ke sath unki nazar jo hoti thi ladkiyon pe hoti thi. Kabhi ye nahi bhakton pe hon ya bhagwan ka nam le kuch bhi nahi. Agra me gaye, Delhi me dekh lo kahin bhi. Aj kal to umeed ki dukanen itni ban gayi age se pehle koi nazar nahi aati . . .aj kal bahut hi . . . (Very much. Where we used to stay with devotees, their vision was towards the girls. Never was it on the devotees or taking the names of the Lord, nothing at all. We went to Agra, also you can see in Delhi, everywhere. Nowadays there are shops made for hope, nowadays a lot . . .)

Prabhupāda: Chupa ke bechte hain. (They sell secretly.)

Devotee: Gujarat me aj kal bhi chupa ka bechte hain. Ek do ath kuch seediyan open kar lena tha to dekha ki wo ek dukan khula hai sab log wahan . . . (In Gujarat, even now they sell secretly. Some one to eight steps they used to open and we saw the shop was open and everybody . . .)

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct) . . . Ek admi ka ek kaan kata diya. To wo kaan nadi ka idhar rakhta tha aur ye kaan idhar rakhta tha. Ab jab do kaan kat gaya to chupana kya, idhar dekho udhar dekho kaan kata hua. (All laughing). Ye saare log to do kaan aur isme kuch chupane ka nahi. (They cut one man's ear. He used to keep the ear on one side of the river and the other ear on this side. Now when both the ears are cut so what is there to hide, whichever side you see the ear is cut. (All laughing). All these people with 2 ears and they have nothing to hide.)

Devotee: Jaise ki ye thik hai ki bacha jo hai sabse kharab hai aur sab apne apne me lage hue hain koi sharab pi raha hai, kabhi cigarette mar rahe hain, ganja pi rahe hain, kyunki unko higher taste maloom nahi hai, agar unko higher taste maloom hojata hai to uske bad wo sab chod dete hain fir unko ghoo lagta hai ekdam. Lekin isme jo sanskar hai kya wo sath nahi dete hain ki wo ache karam me jaye ya usko roke? (When a child is very bad and they are engaged in drinking liquor, or smoking cigarettes, or having marijuana because they don't know the higher taste. If they get to know the higher taste then after that he leaves everything and feels all that as stool. Is it not that the culture guides him to do nice karma or prevents him?)

Prabhupāda: Kya sanskar? (What culture?)

Devotee: Mane ki har ek aadmi jo hai, usko jab wo bhakti yog me aa jata hai ya association me, devotion me aa jata hai to uska jo taste hai wo higher develop hojata hai . . . (indistinct) . . . to kehna ka tatparya ye hai ki . . . (When a person comes to Bhakti yoga, or gets the association of devotee, when he comes to devotion then he develops the higher taste . . . (indistinct) . . . so the implication is) . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Jata nahi. (It doesn't go.)

Devotee: Ways, means ya facilities . . . (There should be some ways, means and facilities . . .)

Prabhupāda: Sab he lekin wo lega nahi. (Everything is there but he won't take it.)

Devotee: Maloom nahi hai, usko gyan nahi hai to . . . (He doesn't know, he doesn't have the knowledge so . . .)

Prabhupāda: To gyan nahi hai isliye to sadhu ka sang karna chahiye. Isliye to hum log center banate hain ki aao, idhar raho, sikho. Lekin wo ayega nahi. (So knowledge is not there that is why he should do devotee association. That is why we have made these centers for people to come, stay here and learn. But he won't come.)

Devotee: Lekin insan ke sanskar jo hai . . . (But people's culture . . .)

Prabhupāda: Sanskar kya hai? (What is culture?)

Devotee: Jo instinct hote hain . . . (The instincts which are there . . .)

Prabhupāda: Kya instinct, kya sanskar? (What instincts? What culture?)

Devotee: . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Abhi tumko diya jata hai kyun nahi leta hai? Bolta hai hamara sanskar hoga to lega. Rupiya jachta hai aur kehta hai hamara sanskar hoga to lega. Ye sab badmashi hai. (Now we are giving it, why are you not taking it? He says if we have the culture we will take it. He will check for the money but say if we have the culture, we will take it. This is all mischief.)

Devotee: Bhakton ki association chahiye Prabhupāda. Bhakton ki association ki to kismat hi . . . (Devotees association is required Prabhupāda. The destiny to have devotee's association . . .)

Prabhupāda: Kismat se hota, kismat nahi hai to tumko jab jachta hai to leta kyun nahi. Isliye, prachar to isiliye kiya jata hai ki jiska kismat me nahi tha wo bhi aaye. Kismat me jiska hai wo to ayega par jiska kismat nahi hai wo bhi ayega isliye prachar. Ab tumko jab jach rahe hain fir kismat ka kya baat he, lo. Why you are hesitant? Bahut durbhagya hai ki jachte hue bhi nahi le raha hai. Aisa gadha hai. (It would have happened by destiny, if you don't have destiny then when we present it, why don't you take it. That is why we preach, so that even if it's not there in someone's destiny, they can come. If it's there in the destiny he will come, but we preach so that if it's not there in the destiny, even then he will come. Now when we present it to you what is there to talk about destiny, take it. Why are you hesitant? It's such a misfortune that even when we present they don't take it. Such a fool.)

Devotee: Prabhupāda ji ap . . . (indistinct) . . . kab padhariyega? (Prabhupāda, when are you coming to . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Ab dekho bhagwan . . . (When the Lord . . .)

Devotee: Hamari vinati hai ap jaldi aye maharaj. (We request you to come soon Mahārāja.)

Devotee (2): Prabhupāda Delhi me koi bada temple ap bana rahe hain? (Prabhupāda, are you making any big temple in Delhi?)

Prabhupāda: Bada temple to sare duniya me bana sakte hain baki temple ka sevak bhi to hona chahiye. (We can have big temples all over the world but there should be people to serve.)

Devotee: Delhi me ek bahut chota sa area me hai. (It's there in a very small place in Delhi.)

Devotee (2): Delhi me janta to bahut hai. Connaught place sabse bhinn hai waise but people don't have devotion. Wese log jo chote chote gaon wale log wo aate hain, Delhi me birla mandir me jate hain. Aise koi mandir acha sa banaye to . . . (The public in Delhi is huge. Connaught place is different from others but people don't have devotion. The people from small villages come to Delhi and visit Birla temple. If we make nice temples like that . . .)

Prabhupāda: Mandir me ane se kya hoga baat samjhe tab to. Sadhu sang bina ye sab nahi tikti. (What will happen coming to temples if they don't understand the matter. Without devotee association all this will not sustain.)

(in car)

Satsvarūpa: . . . that we have to stick to the tradition. Tat-tat-karma-pravartanāt. Then . . . not just by mystical devotion.

Prabhupāda: There is no proper guide. They manufacture ideas, that's all. Evaṁ paramparā-prāptam imaṁ rājarṣayo viduḥ (BG 4.2), that path is not there. (break) . . . name? I forgot

Satsvarūpa: Gene. (the priest who joined in LA)

Prabhupāda: Gene.

Satsvarūpa: Yes. (break)

Prabhupāda: . . . building or something . . .

Viśvakarmā: Yes, it's a very big exhibit, scientific achievements. (break) . . . come and see it. (break)

Prabhupāda: . . . their achievement, no more death? As soon as you ask this question, matta kara heṭ. Baro baro bagara baro baro pet laṅkā diṅgaya matta kora heṭ, "Big, big monkey, big, big belly, Ceylon jumping, melancholy." (laughs) What scientific advancement? Ask them. Do you think there will be no more death? Matte kora heṭ, "Yes, we are trying. Yes." Answer them, "What is your achievement?" All achievement will be, remain in your back, and you'll have to die. So what you have done, insurance, that you'll enjoy this? You'll be kicked out of the scene at any moment. What you have done for this? What is the answer? Mattaḥ kora heṭ, "Yes, we are trying." (laughter) Nonsense, you are trying. And we have to see this nonsense. We are not so fool. And if they say: "What you are doing?" "Yes, we are doing that. How to conquer over death." Tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti, mām eti (BG 4.9). That is we are trying. That is real scientific. Eh? What is method? Very simple: man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru mām evaiśyasi asaṁśayaḥ. (BG 18.68): "Without any doubt, he comes to Me." This is science. Why shall I waste time? (break)

Svarūpa Dāmodara challenged one scientist in California that, "If I give you the chemicals, can you manufacture life?" He said: "That I cannot say." What you have spoken all this nonsense? Matta kora heṭ. And when there is challenge, matta kora heṭ. Otherwise, baro baro bagara, baro baro phet, big, big monkey, big, big belly. And when the real question is there, matta kora het. Ceylon jumping, melancholy. Hanumān jumped over the ocean, so other monkeys, they also become very proud, "I am . . . Hanumān is our leader. We can . . ." "Can you jump over Ceylon?" Matta het. (break) . . . speak all these things, Indian villagers, they will immediately believe. One cobbler . . . I think I narrated this story. Nārada Muni was going to Vaikuṇṭha. Did I say that?

Hari-śauri: I think this story's in Rāja-vidyā, that small book. The one about the brāhmaṇa and the cobbler?

Prabhupāda: (laughs) Yes. Cobbler immediately believed when he was informed by Nārada Muni that, "I saw God is pulling one elephant through the hole of a needle, this side and again this side." The brāhmin did not believe it. And as soon as the cobbler—he was also devotee—he heard, oh, he began to pray, "Oh, my Lord can do anything." So Nārada Muni, "You believed it?" "Yes, why not?" "How do you believe it?" "I am daily seeing. I am underneath the tree, and so many figs are dropping, and each fig has got thousands of seeds, and in each seed there is another tree. Why should I not believe it?" He did not believe it blindly. With reason. And he gave immediately reason, "When I see this fig tree, big fig tree, and there are millions of figs dropping, and in each fig there are millions of seeds, and each seed there is . . . why shall I not believe it?" God, nothing is impossible by God, everything.

Satsvarūpa: The brāhmaṇa was supposed to be learned in the Vedas.

Prabhupāda: Ah, yes. And he said: "These are all . . ." what is called? Mythology. Why mythology? Why do you think God like you? God is all-powerful; He can do anything. That is real faith. That means you have no faith, "If God can do which tallies with my activities, then I shall believe." What you are? Nonsense. This is their general argument. How we can believe this? And why not believe this? You are seeing so many wonderful things. I gave this example to another man, that there is a coconut tree. Now find out where is the pipe and pumping so that the water is pushed. Show me. You have no idea that such a high height, how water is going there, and full of water. How the water is transferred there? Show me the pipe and pump. You have got the idea, that with pipe and pump we can raise the water. Where is that pipe and pump? Show me. Every day, every moment, we are seeing so many wonderful things. How you are thinking . . . "I am Dr. Frog. Pacific Ocean may be four feet. All right, five feet. Make compromise, ten feet." (laughter) Rascal. If you think for many millions of years, then you'll have no solution. Panthās tu koṭi-śata-vatsara-sampragamyo (BS 5.34). It is not possible in that way. They have no idea of God.

Hari-śauri: Everything is there, but actually they don't see.

Prabhupāda: Because they are not devotee. Paśyanti jñāna-cakṣuṣā. Mām ebhyaḥ param. Mūḍhā nābhijānāti mām ebhyaḥ parama-avyayam (BG 7.13). Paraṁ bhāvam ajānantaḥ. Paraṁ bhāvam ajānantaḥ (BG 7.24). They have no knowledge.

Satsvarūpa: They think that if they follow, they'll still be misled.

Prabhupāda: Eh?

Satsvarūpa: They think that if they follow, they'll still be misled. "Why should I believe? It may not be true."

Prabhupāda: But you are already misled. Why not be second time misled? You are already misled, thousand times. Why not try once more? You are making so much arrangement to live comfortably, but you are kicked out. Are you not misled? Bahir-artha-māninaḥ (SB 7.5.31). You are thinking that by adjustment of this external energy, you will be able to live very happily. Is it possible? You are trying, problem after problem, problem after problem. So you are already misled.

Satsvarūpa: You've said: "Just give this one life to Kṛṣṇa. You've misgambled so many lives. Why not give one to Kṛṣṇa?"

Prabhupāda: You are misled already so many lives. All right, be misled another life. Sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja (BG 18.66).

Hari-śauri: They're taking a photo today for the BTG, so they'd like if you would pose for five minutes.

Prabhupāda: Why not? (end)
