naukāte kālīya-jñāna, dīpe ratna-jñāne!

jāliyāre mūḍha-loka 'kṛṣṇa' kari' māne!

SYNONYMS

naukāte—on the boat; kālīya-jñāna—knowledge as the Kālīya snake; dīpe—on the torch; ratna-jñāne—consideration as jewels; jāliyāre—the fisherman; mūḍha-loka—foolish men; kṛṣṇa kari' māne—accept as Kṛṣṇa.

TRANSLATION

"These fools think that the boat is the Kālīya serpent and the torchlight the jewels on his hoods. People also mistake the fisherman to be Kṛṣṇa.
