October 28th, 1977
From: Tamal Krishna
My dear Giriraj Prabhu,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet.
Enclosed please find a letter to the Central Bank of India which is to be given to the manager at the time of the monthly interest from Indian Overseas Bank being sent to the five former family members of Srila Prabhupada. In other words, M.M. De, and Suluxshmana Dey will be receiving Rs. 250 per month from I.O.D., so when this begins we want to discontinue sending them any money from Central Bank of India.
Also find enclosed a very important letter to the Bank of Baroda. You have to sign the copies and send the original letter by Registered A/D as well as the carbon copy to Brindaban Chandra De. You may keep the triplicate copy and send me the quadruplicate. As you can see from the contents of the letter you have to add a notarized copy of the Power of Attorney as well as a notarized specimen signature of each of us. I hope that by now you have gotten the specimen signatures notarized because this particular matter has to be expedited. The Postal Receipts were originally meant to be divided amongst the five family members. But Brindaban Chandra De has an opportunity to do a big contract with the Government for which he requires Rs. 1,00,000/-. Therefore Srila Prabhupada has decided to give him the entire amount of the Postal Receipts which he will utilize to get a further loan from the bank and thus be able to fulfill this contract and in this way increase his business. This letter should reach you by Monday, the 31st October and you should send it off on Tuesday, the 1st of November so that it may reach the bank, the copy reaching Brindaban Chandra De as soon as possible. Send the letters by QMS.
Also enclosed are two letters to the Punjab National Bank, Vrndavana, which require your signature. The Rs.2,000/- is a repayment to the temple for the expense of bringing Dr. Ghosh to see Srila Prabhupada and returning him to Allahabad along with Lokanath Swami’s expenses for bringing him. The second check for Rs.1,000/- is for petty cash expenditures which include approximately Rs.700/- which were used to pay for Srila Prabhupada’s former son’s travel from Calcutta to here and flight back to Calcutta. The balance Rs.300/- I will keep as cash on hand for any petty expenses. You may keep the duplicate and send me back the original plus the triplicate. In the future I will always send a copy for you to keep in your files of any letters which you have to sign regarding Srila Prabhupada’s business.
I pray that this letter finds you in the best of Krsna consciousness and good health.
Your servant,
- Tamal Krsna Gosvami
