760212 - Letter to Aksayananda from Dayananda

Mayapur,

February 12, 1976

From: Dayananda

Vrndavana

My dear Aksayananda Maharaj,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga!

Tamal Krishna Maharaj has just left for the states and I am taking over for him as personal secretary to Srila Prabhupada. (Hridayananda Maharaj is traveling GBC man) Before he left Tamal Krishna Swami asked me to write you concerning this important matter.

If the plans for the Gurukul take a very long time that may not be very good. His Divine Grace has been talking about shifting all the older boys (8 years and above) from Dallas to Vrndavana. The point is that a delay in approval may not be very good for us. So if it is at all possible please try to speed up the approval. T.K. Maharaj said that when he first got the plans for the temple in Vrndavana approved, he went personally to the District Magistrate and the town planner and made several visits. He gave them literature, prasadam, an explanation of our world wide program and then a request (begging) to kindly approve our plans quickly. Then if it is necessary also go to Lucknow, Agra, etc.

So he felt that that endeavor would save a tremendous amount of time. And he thought the plans would take a month for approval whereas who knows how long they would take otherwise. Actually I have personal experience working with Tamal Krishna Maharaj in the States and seeing him approach people personally. Everyone is a person and somehow if they can be approached in a very amiable, cordial way, they can be induced to do things for us. If we are very sober, sane, refined and business like and of course Krishna Conscious they like to work with us. Please try.

Your servant

Dayananda das
