A devotee of the Lord is nobody's enemy although there may be many enemies of a devotee. A devotee of the Lord does not like to associate with non-devotees although he has no enmity with them. He desires association with the devotees of the Lord. This is perfectly natural because the birds of the same feather mix up together. The ducks and the crows are different types of birds. The ducks associate with the ducks and the crows associate with the crows. And the most important function of a devotee is to have complete attachment for Lord Sri Krishna the father of all other living beings. As a good son of the father behave friendly with all his other brothers, so also the devotee of the Lord being a good son of the Supreme Father Lord Krishna, sees all other living beings in relation with the Supreme Father. He tries to bring back the upstart sons of the father to a saner stage and thus gradually accepts the Supreme fatherhood of God. Maharaj Parikshit was certainly going back to home back to Godhead but even if he was not to go back like that he prayed for a pattern of life which is the most perfect way of life in the material world. A pure devotee does not desire the company of a personality as great as Brahma, but he prefers the association of a petty living being provided such living being is a devotee of the Lord. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_16"#TEXT 16#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#punaś ca bhūyād bhagavaty anante#/dd# #dd#ratiḥ prasaṅgaś ca tad-āśrayeṣu#/dd# #dd#mahatsu yāṁ yām upayāmi sṛṣṭiṁ#/dd# #dd#maitry astu sarvatra namo dvijebhyaḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=punaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#punaḥ#/i# — again; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhūyāt&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhūyāt#/i# — let it be; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhagavati&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhagavati#/i# — unto Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anante&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anante#/i# — who has unlimited potency; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ratiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ratiḥ#/i# — attracting; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=prasaṅgaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#prasaṅgaḥ#/i# — association; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — also; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tat&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tat#/i# — His; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=āśrayeṣu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#āśrayeṣu#/i# — with those who are His devotees; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mahatsu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mahatsu#/i# — within the material creation; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yām #a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yām#/i# — wherever; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=upayāmi&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#upayāmi#/i# — I may take; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sṛṣṭim&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sṛṣṭim#/i# — my birth; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=maitrī&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#maitrī#/i# — friendly relation; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=astu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#astu#/i# — let it be; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sarvatra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sarvatra#/i# — everywhere; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=namaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#namaḥ#/i# — my obeisances; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dvijebhyaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dvijebhyaḥ#/i# — unto the #i#brāhmaṇas#/i#. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# Again, offering obeisances unto all you brāhmaṇas, I pray that if I should again take my birth in the material world I will have complete attachment to the unlimited Lord Kṛṣṇa, association with His devotees and friendly relations with all living beings. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# That a devotee of the Lord is the only perfect living being is explained herein by Mahārāja Parīkṣit.
