There is no need of turning the coat of a Hindu to Mahamedan or that of Mahamedan to Christian or some other faith and thus become a renegade without following the principles of religion. The Bhagwatam religion means to follow the principles of religion. The principles of religion are not dogmas or regulative principles of a certain faith. Such regulative principles may be different in terms of the time and place concerned. But one has to see whether the aims of religion have been achieved. Sticking to the dogmas and formulas without attainment of the real principles, is no good. A secular state may be impartial to any particular type of faith but the state cannot be indifferent to the principles of religion as above mentioned. But in the age of Kali the executive heads of state will be indifferent to such religious principles and therefore under their patronage the opposite numbers of religious principles namely greed, falsehood, cheating, renegation, pilfery etc. will naturally follow and there is no meaning for a propaganda trying to stop corruption in the state. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_32"#TEXT 32#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#tvāṁ vartamānaṁ nara-deva-deheṣv#/dd# #dd#anupravṛtto 'yam adharma-pūgaḥ#/dd# #dd#lobho 'nṛtaṁ cauryam anāryam aṁho#/dd# #dd#jyeṣṭhā ca māyā kalahaś ca dambhaḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tvām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tvām#/i# — you; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vartamānam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vartamānam#/i# — while present; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=nara&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#nara-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=deva&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#deva#/i# — a man-god, or a king; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=deheṣu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#deheṣu#/i# — in the body; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anupravṛttaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anupravṛttaḥ#/i# — taking place everywhere; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ayam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ayam#/i# — all these; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=adharma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#adharma#/i# — irreligious principles; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pūgaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pūgaḥ#/i# — in the masses; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=lobhaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#lobhaḥ#/i# — greed; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anṛtam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anṛtam#/i# — falsity; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=cauryam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#cauryam#/i# — robbery; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anāryam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anāryam#/i# — incivility; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=aṁhaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#aṁhaḥ#/i# — treachery; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=jyeṣṭhā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#jyeṣṭhā#/i# — misfortune; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=māyā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#māyā#/i# — cheating; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kalahaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kalahaḥ#/i# — quarrel; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dambhaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dambhaḥ#/i# — vanity. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# If the personality of Kali, irreligion, is allowed to act as a man-god or an executive head, certainly irreligious principles like greed, falsehood, robbery, incivility, treachery, misfortune, cheating, quarrel and vanity will abound. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# The principles of religion, namely #i#austerity#/i#, #i#cleanliness#/i#, #i#mercy#/i# and #i#truthfulness#/i#, as we have already discussed, may be followed by the follower of any faith.
