In the Vedas it is stated that the one becomes many (eko bahu syām). The Supreme Personality of Godhead expands Himself in various forms-viṣṇu-tattva, jīva-tattva and śakti-tattva. #$p#According to the Vedic literatures, there are different regulative principles for the worship of each of these forms. If one takes advantage of the Vedic literatures and purifies himself by following the rules and regulations, ultimately he worships the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad-gītā (4.11): mama vartmānuvartante manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ. Worship of the demigods is in a sense worship of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but such worship is said to be avidhi-pūrvakam, improper. Actually demigod worship is meant for unintelligent men. One who is intelligent considers the words of the Supreme Personality of Godhead: sarva dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja. One who worships demigods worships the Supreme Lord indirectly, but according to the revealed scriptures, there is no need to worship Him indirectly. One can worship Him directly. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_173"#TEXT 173#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#anye ca saṁskṛtātmāno#/dd# #dd#vidhinābhihitena te#/dd# #dd#yajanti tvan-mayās tvāṁ vai#/dd# #dd#bahu-mūrty eka-mūrtikam#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anye&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anye#/i# — different persons; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — also; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=saṁskṛta&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#saṁskṛta-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ātmānaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ātmānaḥ#/i# — persons who are purified; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vidhinā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vidhinā#/i# — by the regulative principles; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=abhihitena&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#abhihitena#/i# — stated in the revealed scriptures; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=te&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#te#/i# — such persons; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yajanti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yajanti#/i# — worship; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tvat&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tvat-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mayāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mayāḥ#/i# — being absorbed in You; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tvām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tvām#/i# — You; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vai&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vai#/i# — certainly; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bahu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bahu-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mūrti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mūrti#/i# — having many forms; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=eka&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#eka-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mūrtikam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mūrtikam#/i# — although one. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# “‘In different Vedic scriptures, there are prescribed rules and regulative principles for worshiping different types of forms.
