He has surpassed the stage of mental speculations and has come to the conclusion that Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, or Vāsudeva, is everything. He is called a #i#muni#/i# fixed in mind. Such a fully Kṛṣṇa conscious person is not at all disturbed by the onslaughts of the threefold miseries, for he accepts all miseries as the mercy of the Lord, thinking himself only worthy of more trouble due to his past misdeeds; and he sees that his miseries, by the grace of the Lord, are minimized to the lowest. Similarly, when he is happy he gives credit to the Lord, thinking himself unworthy of the happiness; he realizes that it is due only to the Lord's grace that he is in such a comfortable condition and able to render better service to the Lord. And, for the service of the Lord, he is always daring and active and is not influenced by attachment or aversion. Attachment means accepting things for one's own sense gratification, and detachment is the absence of such sensual attachment. But one fixed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness has neither attachment nor detachment because his life is dedicated in the service of the Lord. Consequently he is not at all angry even when his attempts are unsuccessful. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person is always steady in his determination. #/p# #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_56"#TEXT 56#/span##/h4# #div class="devanagari"# #dl##dd#दुःखेष्वनुद्विग्नमनाः सुखेषु विगतस्पृहः ।#/dd# #dd#वीतरागभयक्रोधः स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते ॥५६॥#/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#duḥkheṣv anudvigna-manāḥ#/dd# #dd#sukheṣu vigata-spṛhaḥ#/dd# #dd#vīta-rāga-bhaya-krodhaḥ#/dd# #dd#sthita-dhīr munir ucyate#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=duḥkheṣu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#duḥkheṣu#/i# — in the threefold miseries; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anudvigna&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anudvigna-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=manāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#manāḥ#/i# — without being agitated in mind; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sukheṣu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sukheṣu#/i# — in happiness; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vigata&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vigata-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=spṛhaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#spṛhaḥ#/i# — without being interested; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vīta&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vīta#/i# — free from; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=rāga&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#rāga#/i# — attachment; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhaya&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhaya#/i# — fear; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=krodhaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#krodhaḥ#/i# — and anger; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sthita&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sthita-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dhīḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dhīḥ#/i# — whose mind is steady; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=muniḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#muniḥ#/i# — a sage; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ucyate&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ucyate#/i# — is called. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#One who is not disturbed in mind even amidst the threefold miseries or elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# #p#The word #i#muni#/i# means one who can agitate his mind in various ways for mental speculation without coming to a factual conclusion.
