The king is to see to the welfare of the citizens from all angles of social, political, economical, and spiritual upliftment of the subjects. The king must know that the human life is meant for liberating the encaged soul from the bondage of material conditions and therefore his duty is to see that the citizens are properly looked after to attain this highest stage of perfection of life. #$p#Maharaj Yudhisthir followed these principles strictly as it will be seen from the next chapter. Not only he followed the principles but also he got it approved by his old uncle experienced in political affairs and that also confirmed by Lord Krishna the speaker of the Philosophy of Bhagwat Geeta. Maharaj Yudhisthir is the ideal Monarch and monarchy under a trained up king like Maharaj Yudhisthir is by far the most superior form of Government than the modern republics or government of the people by the people. The mass of people specially in this age of Kali are all born Sudras or basically low born, ill-trained, unfortunate, and badly associated. Therefore, they themselves do not know what may be the highest perfectional aim of life. Therefore, votes casted by them practically have no value and thus persons elected by such irresponsible votes can not be as responsible representative as Maharaj Yudhisthir. #$p# Thus ended the #b#BHAKTIVEDANTA PURPORTS#/b# of the First Canto Nineth Chapter of Srimad Bhagwatam in the matter of Passing away Bhismadeva in the Presence of Lord Krishna. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_49"#TEXT 49#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#pitrā cānumato rājā#/dd# #dd#vāsudevānumoditaḥ#/dd# #dd#cakāra rājyaṁ dharmeṇa#/dd# #dd#pitṛ-paitāmahaṁ vibhuḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pitrā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pitrā#/i# — by his uncle, Dhṛtarāṣṭra; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anumataḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anumataḥ#/i# — with his approval; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=rājā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#rājā#/i# — King Yudhiṣṭhira; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vāsudeva&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vāsudeva-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anumoditaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anumoditaḥ#/i# — confirmed by Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=cakāra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#cakāra#/i# — executed; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=rājyam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#rājyam#/i# — the kingdom; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dharmeṇa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dharmeṇa#/i# — in compliance with the codes of royal principles; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pitṛ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pitṛ#/i# — father; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=paitāmaham&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#paitāmaham#/i# — forefather; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vibhuḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vibhuḥ#/i# — as great as. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# After this, the great religious King, Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira, executed the royal power in the kingdom strictly according to the codes and royal principles approved by his uncle and confirmed by Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira was not a mere tax collector.
