And yet by His causeless mercy one can have suitable senses to hear Him or to speak to Him. This is the Lord's inconceivable energy. One can hear Him upon whom His mercy is bestowed. The Lord was too much pleased with Narada Muni and therefore the necessary strength was invested in Him so that he could hear the Lord. It is not however possible for others to perceive directly the touch of the Lord during the probationer stage of regulative devotional service. It was a special gift for Narada. When he heard the pleasing words of the Lord the feelings of separation was to some extent mitigated. A devotee in love with God feels always the pangs of separation and is therefore always enwrapped in transcendental ecstacy. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_20"#TEXT 20#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#evaṁ yatantaṁ vijane#/dd# #dd#mām āhāgocaro girām#/dd# #dd#gambhīra-ślakṣṇayā vācā#/dd# #dd#śucaḥ praśamayann iva#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i#evam#/i#—thus; #i#yatantam#/i#—one who is engaged in attempting; #i#vijane#/i#—in that lonely place; #i#mām#/i#—unto me; #i#āha#/i#—said; #i#agocaraḥ#/i#—beyond the range of physical sound; #i#girām#/i#—utterances; #i#gambhīra#/i#—grave; #i#ślakṣṇayā#/i#—pleasing to hear; #i#vācā#/i#—words; #i#śucaḥ#/i#—grief; #i#praśamayan#/i#—mitigating; #i#iva#/i#—like. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# Seeing my attempts in that lonely place, the Personality of Godhead, who is transcendental to all mundane description, spoke to me with gravity and pleasing words, just to mitigate my grief. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# In the #i#Vedas#/i# it is said that God is beyond the approach of mundane words and intelligence.
