That is a routine division of life but persons like Dhritarastra even at their weary ripen age want to keep up at home even in a degraded condition as to accept charity from enemies. Vidura wanted to point out this anomaly in his brother's life and impressed upon him that it was better for him to die like his sons than accepting such humiliating charity. Five thousands of years before there was one Dhritarastra but at the present moment there are full of Dhritarastras in every home. Specially the politicians do not wish to retire from political activities unless they are dragged by the cruel hand of death or killed by some opposing element. To stick to family life up to the end of one's human life is the grossest type of degradation and there is absolute need of educating such Dhritarastras by the Viduras even at the present moment. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_24"#TEXT 24#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#agnir nisṛṣṭo dattaś ca#/dd# #dd#garo dārāś ca dūṣitāḥ#/dd# #dd#hṛtaṁ kṣetraṁ dhanaṁ yeṣāṁ#/dd# #dd#tad-dattair asubhiḥ kiyat#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=agniḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#agniḥ#/i# — fire; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=nisṛṣṭaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#nisṛṣṭaḥ#/i# — set; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dattaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dattaḥ#/i# — given; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=garaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#garaḥ#/i# — poison; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dārāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dārāḥ#/i# — married wife; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dūṣitāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dūṣitāḥ#/i# — insulted; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=hṛtam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#hṛtam#/i# — usurped; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kṣetram&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kṣetram#/i# — kingdom; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dhanam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dhanam#/i# — wealth; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yeṣām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yeṣām#/i# — of those; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tat&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tat#/i# — their; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dattaiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dattaiḥ#/i# — given by; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=asubhiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#asubhiḥ#/i# — subsisting; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kiyat&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kiyat#/i# — is unnecessary. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# There is no need to live a degraded life and subsist on the charity of those whom you tried to kill by arson and poisoning.
