Such associates of the Lord are eternally liberated souls and they cannot forbear the separation of the Lord even for a moment on account of intense affection for the Lord. As such the inhabitants of the city of Dwarka were in a mood of dejection and expecting the arrival of the Lord at any moment. So the heralding sound of the auspicious conchshell was too much encouraging for them and apparently the sound pacified the dejection for separation. They were still more aspirant to see the Lord amongst themselves and all of them became alert to receive Him in the befitting manner. These are the signs of spontaneons love of Godhead. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_1"#TEXT 1#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#sūta uvāca#/dd# #dd#ānartān sa upavrajya#/dd# #dd#svṛddhāñ jana-padān svakān#/dd# #dd#dadhmau daravaraṁ teṣāṁ#/dd# #dd#viṣādaṁ śamayann iva#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i#sūtaḥ uvāca#/i#—Sūta Gosvāmī said; #i#ānartān#/i#—the country known as Ānartān (Dvārakā); #i#saḥ#/i#—He; #i#upavrajya#/i#—reaching the border of; #i#svṛddhān#/i#—most prosperous; #i#jana-padān#/i#—city; #i#svakān#/i#—His own; #i#dadhmau#/i#—sounded; #i#daravaram#/i#—the auspicious conchshell (Pāñcajanya); #i#teṣām#/i#—of them; #i#viṣādam#/i#—dejection; #i#śamayan#/i#—pacifying; #i#iva#/i#—seemingly. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# Sūta Gosvāmī said: Upon reaching the border of His most prosperous metropolis, known as the country of the Ānartas [Dvārakā], the Lord sounded His auspicious conchshell, heralding His arrival and apparently pacifying the dejection of the inhabitants. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# The beloved Lord was away from His own prosperous metropolis of Dvārakā for a considerably long period because of the Battle of Kurukṣetra, and thus all the inhabitants were overcome with melancholia due to the separation.
