This is a verse from the Padma Purāṇa, Uttara-khaṇḍa. A member of the sahajiyā-sampradāya does not change his name; therefore he cannot be accepted as a Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava. If a person does not change his name after initiation, it is to be understood that he will continue in his bodily conception of life. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_208"#TEXT 208#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#āji haite duṅhāra nāma ‘rūpa’ ‘sanātana’#/dd# #dd#dainya chāḍa, tomāra dainye phāṭe mora mana#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=āji&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#āji #a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=haite&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#haite#/i# — from this day; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=duṅhāra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#duṅhāra#/i# — of both of you; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=nāma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#nāma#/i# — these names; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=rūpa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#rūpa#/i# — Śrī Rūpa; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sanātana&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sanātana#/i# — Śrī Sanātana; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dainya&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dainya #a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=chāḍa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#chāḍa#/i# — give up your humility; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tomāra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tomāra#/i# — your; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dainye&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dainye#/i# — humility; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=phāṭe&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#phāṭe#/i# — breaks; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mora&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mora#/i# — My; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mana&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mana#/i# — heart. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# “My dear Sākara Mallika, from this day your names will be changed to Śrīla Rūpa and Śrīla Sanātana.
