Similarly, the process of rendering service to different parts of the body is to supply food to the stomach. The demigods are, so to speak, different officers and directors in the government of the Supreme Lord. One has to follow the laws made by the government, not by the officers or directors. Similarly, everyone is to offer his worship to the Supreme Lord only. That will automatically satisfy the different officers and directors of the Lord. The officers and directors are engaged as representatives of the government, and to offer some bribe to the officers and directors is illegal. This is stated here as #i#avidhi-pūrvakam#/i#. In other words, Kṛṣṇa does not approve the unnecessary worship of the demigods. #/p# #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_23"#TEXT 23#/span##/h4# #div class="devanagari"# #dl##dd#येऽप्यन्यदेवता भक्ता यजन्ते श्रद्धयान्विताः ।#/dd# #dd#तेऽपि मामेव कौन्तेय यजन्त्यविधिपूर्वकम् ॥२३॥#/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#ye 'py anya-devatā-bhaktā#/dd# #dd#yajante śraddhayānvitāḥ#/dd# #dd#te 'pi mām eva kaunteya#/dd# #dd#yajanty avidhi-pūrvakam#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ye&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ye#/i# — those who; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=api&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#api#/i# — also; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anya&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anya#/i# — of other; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=devatā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#devatā#/i# — gods; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhaktāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhaktāḥ#/i# — devotees; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yajante&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yajante#/i# — worship; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=śraddhayā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#śraddhayā #a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anvitāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anvitāḥ#/i# — with faith; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=te&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#te#/i# — they; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=api&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#api#/i# — also; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mām#/i# — Me; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=eva&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#eva#/i# — only; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kaunteya&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kaunteya#/i# — O son of Kuntī; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yajanti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yajanti#/i# — they worship; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=avidhi&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#avidhi-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pūrvakam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pūrvakam#/i# — in a wrong way. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#Those who are devotees of other gods and who worship them with faith actually worship only Me, O son of Kuntī, but they do so in a wrong way. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# #p#"Persons who are engaged in the worship of demigods are not very intelligent, although such worship is offered to Me indirectly," Kṛṣṇa says.
