They make a show of performing sacrifices, or they worship the demigods, or manufacture their own God. Common men advertise them as God and worship them, and by the foolish they are considered advanced in the principles of religion, or in the principles of spiritual knowledge. They take the dress of the renounced order of life and engage in all nonsense in that dress. Actually there are so many restrictions for one who has renounced this world. The demons, however, do not care for such restrictions. They think that whatever path one can create is one's own path; there is no such thing as a standard path one has to follow. The word #i#avidhi-pūrvakam#/i#, meaning disregard for the rules and regulations, is especially stressed here. These things are always due to ignorance and illusion. #/p# #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_17"#TEXT 17#/span##/h4# #div class="devanagari"# #dl##dd#आत्मसम्भाविताः स्तब्धा धनमानमदान्विताः ।#/dd# #dd#यजन्ते नामयज्ञैस्ते दम्भेनाविधिपूर्वकम् ॥१७॥#/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#ātma-sambhāvitāḥ stabdhā#/dd# #dd#dhana-māna-madānvitāḥ#/dd# #dd#yajante nāma-yajñais te#/dd# #dd#dambhenāvidhi-pūrvakam#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ātma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ātma-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sambhāvitāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sambhāvitāḥ#/i# — self-complacent; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=stabdhāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#stabdhāḥ#/i# — impudent; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dhana&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dhana-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=māna&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#māna#/i# — of wealth and false prestige; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mada&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mada#/i# — in the delusion; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=anvitāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#anvitāḥ#/i# — absorbed; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yajante&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yajante#/i# — they perform sacrifice; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=nāma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#nāma#/i# — in name only; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yajñaiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yajñaiḥ#/i# — with sacrifices; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=te&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#te#/i# — they; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dambhena&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dambhena#/i# — out of pride; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=avidhi&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#avidhi-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pūrvakam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pūrvakam#/i# — without following any rules and regulations. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#Self-complacent and always impudent, deluded by wealth and false prestige, they sometimes proudly perform sacrifices in name only, without following any rules or regulations. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# #p#Thinking themselves all in all, not caring for any authority or scripture, the demoniac sometimes perform so-called religious or sacrificial rites.
