śrī-bhagavān uvāca
evam etad ahaṁ pṛṣṭaḥ
praśnaṁ praśna-vidāṁ vara
yuyutsunā vinaśane
sapatnair arjunena vai


SYNONYMS

śrī-bhagavān uvāca — the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; evam — thus; etat — this; aham — I; pṛṣṭaḥ — was asked; praśnam — the question or topic; praśna-vidām — of those who know how to inquire; vara — you who are the best; yuyutsunā — by him who desired to fight; vinaśane — in the Battle of Kurukṣetra; sapatnaiḥ — with his rivals or enemies; arjunena — by Arjuna; vai — indeed.

TRANSLATION

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O best of those who know how to inquire, on the Battlefield of Kurukṣetra, Arjuna, desiring to fight with his rivals, asked Me the same question that you are now posing.


PURPORT

Lord Kṛṣṇa was pleased that His two friends, Arjuna and Uddhava, had posed the same question regarding the opulences of the Personality of Godhead. Lord Kṛṣṇa considered it wonderful that His two dear friends had asked exactly the same question.
