For self realisation, the people in the #i#Satya Yuoga#/i#, when the duration of life was for one lac of years, the people would have it by performances of prolonged meditation. The same was attained in the #i#Tretayuga#/i# (when the duration of life was for ten thousands of years) by performances of great sacrifices. In the #i#Dwapara Yug#/i# (when the duration of life was for one thousand of years) the same thing was attained by worshiping the Lord. But in the #i#Kali Yuga#/i# the maximum duration of life being one hundred years only and that also combined with various difficulties,—the process of self realisation is recommended by hearing and chanting the holy Name, Fame and Pastimes of the Lord. The sages of Naimisharanya began this process in that specific land for the devotees of the Lord. They became ready for hearing for a prolonged time even for one thousand of years as the programme was so made. From the examples of the sages at Naimisharanya it should be learnt by those who want to make a prefection of self-realisation that regular recitation of the #b#Bhagwatam#/b# and regular hearing thereof are the only way for self-realisation. Other attempts will be simply waste of time without any tangible result. Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu preached this system of Bhagwat Dharma and He recommended all those who are born in India to take up the responsibility of broadcasting the messages of Lord Sri Krishna. Primarily the message of Lord Sri Krishna is the Bhagwat Geeta and when one is well established in the teachings of the Bhagwat Geeta one can take up the study of Srimad Bhagwatam for further enlightenment in self-realisation. #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"##p class="mw-empty-elt"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_21"#TEXT 21#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#kalim āgatam ājñāya#/dd# #dd#kṣetre 'smin vaiṣṇave vayam#/dd# #dd#āsīnā dīrgha-satreṇa#/dd# #dd#kathāyāṁ sakṣaṇā hareḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kalim&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kalim#/i# — the age of Kali (iron age of quarrel); #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=āgatam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#āgatam#/i# — having arrived; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ājñāya&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ājñāya#/i# — knowing this; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kṣetre&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kṣetre#/i# — in this tract of land; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=asmin&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#asmin#/i# — in this; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vaiṣṇave&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vaiṣṇave#/i# — specially meant for the devotee of the Lord; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vayam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vayam#/i# — we; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=āsīnāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#āsīnāḥ#/i# — seated; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=dīrgha&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#dīrgha#/i# — prolonged; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=satreṇa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#satreṇa#/i# — for performance of sacrifices; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kathāyām&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kathāyām#/i# — in the words of; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sa-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kṣaṇāḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kṣaṇāḥ#/i# — with time at our disposal; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=hareḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#hareḥ#/i# — of the Personality of Godhead. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# Knowing well that the age of Kali has already begun, we are assembled here in this holy place to hear at great length the transcendental message of Godhead and in this way perform sacrifice. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# This age of Kali is not at all suitable for self-realization as was Satya-yuga, the golden age, or Tretā- or Dvāpara-yugas, the silver and copper ages.
