He does not say, like so many rascal incarnations, that both atheists and devotees are on the same platform. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, or Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the real Personality of Godhead, does not advocate such an idea. #$p#Atheists are punishable, whereas devotees are to be protected. To maintain this principle is the mission of all avatāras, or incarnations. One must therefore identify an incarnation by His activities, not by popular votes or mental concoctions. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu gave protection to devotees and killed many demons in the course of His preaching work. He specifically mentioned that the Māyāvādī philosophers are the greatest demons. Therefore He warned all others not to hear the Māyāvāda philosophy. Māyāvādi-bhāṣya śunile haya sarva-nāśa. Simply by hearing the Māyāvāda interpretation of the śāstras, one is doomed ( Cc. Madhya 6.169). #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_53"#TEXT 53#/span##/h4# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#pāṣaṇḍī saṁhārite mora ei avatāra#/dd# #dd#pāṣaṇḍī saṁhāri’ bhakti karimu pracāra#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pāṣaṇḍī&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pāṣaṇḍī#/i# — demons, atheists; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=saṁhārite&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#saṁhārite#/i# — to kill; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=mora&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#mora#/i# — #i#My; #/i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ei&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ei#i# — this; #/i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=avatāra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#avatāra#i# — incarnation; #/i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pāṣaṇḍī&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pāṣaṇḍī#i# — #/i#atheist; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=saṁhāri’&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#saṁhāri’#/i# — killing; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhakti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhakti#/i# — devotional service; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=karimu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#karimu#/i# — I shall do; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=pracāra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#pracāra#/i# — preaching. #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# “I have appeared in this incarnation to kill the demons [pāṣaṇḍīs] and, after killing them, to preach the cult of devotional service.” #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# Lord Caitanya’s mission is the same as that of Lord Kṛṣṇa, which He states in the #i#Bhagavad-gītā#/i# (BG 4.7-8): #dl##dd#yadā yadā hi dharmasya#/dd# #dd#glānir bhavati bhārata#/dd# #dd#abhyutthānam adharmasya#/dd# #dd#tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham#/dd##/dl# #dl##dd#paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ#/dd# #dd#vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām#/dd# #dd#dharma-saṁsthāpanārthāya#/dd# #dd#sambhavāmi yuge yuge#/dd##/dl# “Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself.
