The third, Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, is diffused as the all-pervading Supersoul in all the universes and is known as Paramātmā, who is present even within the atoms. Anyone who knows these three Viṣṇus can be liberated from material entanglement." #$p#This material world is a temporary manifestation of one of the energies of the Lord. All the activities of the material world are directed by these three Viṣṇu expansions of Lord Kṛṣṇa. These #i#Puruṣas#/i# are called incarnations. Generally one who does not know the science of God (Kṛṣṇa) assumes that this material world is for the enjoyment of the living entities and that the living entities are the causes (#i#Puruṣas#/i#), controllers and enjoyers of the material energy. According to #i#Bhagavad-gītā#/i# this atheistic conclusion is false. In the verse under discussion it is stated that Kṛṣṇa is the original cause of the material manifestation. #i#Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam#/i# also confirms this. The ingredients of the material manifestation are separated energies of the Lord. Even the #i#brahmajyoti#/i#, which is the ultimate goal of the impersonalists, is a spiritual energy manifested in the spiritual sky. There are no spiritual diversities in #i#brahmajyoti#/i# as there are in the Vaikuṇṭhalokas, and the impersonalist accepts this #i#brahmajyoti#/i# as the ultimate eternal goal. The Paramātmā manifestation is also a temporary all-pervasive aspect of the Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu. The Paramātmā manifestation is not eternal in the spiritual world. Therefore the factual Absolute Truth is the Supreme Personality of Godhead Kṛṣṇa. He is the complete energetic person, and He possesses different separated and internal energies. #$p#In the material energy, the principal manifestations are eight, as above mentioned. Out of these, the first five manifestations, namely earth, water, fire, air and sky, are called the five gigantic creations or the gross creations, within which the five sense objects are included. They are the manifestations of physical sound, touch, form, taste and smell. Material science comprises these ten items and nothing more. But the other three items, namely mind, intelligence and false ego, are neglected by the materialists. Philosophers who deal with mental activities are also not perfect in knowledge because they do not know the ultimate source, Kṛṣṇa. The false ego—"I am," and "It is mine," which constitute the basic principle of material existence-includes ten sense organs for material activities. Intelligence refers to the total material creation, called the #i#mahat-tattva#/i#. Therefore from the eight separated energies of the Lord are manifest the twenty-four elements of the material world, which are the subject matter of #i#sāṅkhya#/i# atheistic philosophy; they are originally offshoots from Kṛṣṇa's energies and are separated from Him, but atheistic #i#sāṅkhya#/i# philosophers with a poor fund of knowledge do not know Kṛṣṇa as the cause of all causes. The subject matter for discussion in the #i#sāṅkhya#/i# philosophy is only the manifestation of the external energy of Kṛṣṇa, as it is described in the #i#Bhagavad-gītā#/i#. #/p# #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_4"#TEXT 4#/span##/h4# #div class="devanagari"# #dl##dd#भूमिरापोऽनलो वायुः खं मनो बुद्धिरेव च ।#/dd# #dd#अहंकार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा ॥४॥#/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ#/dd# #dd#khaṁ mano buddhir eva ca#/dd# #dd#ahaṅkāra itīyaṁ me#/dd# #dd#bhinnā prakṛtir aṣṭadhā#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhūmiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhūmiḥ#/i# — earth; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=āpaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#āpaḥ#/i# — water; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=analaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#analaḥ#/i# — fire; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vāyuḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vāyuḥ#/i# — air; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kham&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kham#/i# — ether; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=manaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#manaḥ#/i# — mind; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=buddhiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#buddhiḥ#/i# — intelligence; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=eva&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#eva#/i# — certainly; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ca&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ca#/i# — and; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ahaṅkāraḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ahaṅkāraḥ#/i# — false ego; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=iti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#iti#/i# — thus; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=iyam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#iyam#/i# — all these; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=me&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#me#/i# — My; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=bhinnā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#bhinnā#/i# — separated; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=prakṛtiḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#prakṛtiḥ#/i# — energies; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=aṣṭadhā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#aṣṭadhā#/i# — eightfold. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego—all together these eight constitute My separated material energies. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# #p#The science of God analyzes the constitutional position of God and His diverse energies.
