One must be fortunate enough to associate with a person who is in pure consciousness. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person has realized knowledge, by the grace of Kṛṣṇa, because he is satisfied with pure devotional service. By realized knowledge, one becomes perfect. By transcendental knowledge one can remain steady in his convictions, but by mere academic knowledge one can be easily deluded and confused by apparent contradictions. It is the realized soul who is actually self-controlled because he is surrendered to Kṛṣṇa. He is transcendental because he has nothing to do with mundane scholarship. For him mundane scholarship and mental speculation, which may be as good as gold to others, are of no greater value than pebbles or stones. #/p# #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_8"#TEXT 8#/span##/h4# #div class="devanagari"# #dl##dd#ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः ।#/dd# #dd#युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः ॥८॥#/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#jñāna-vijñāna-tṛptātmā#/dd# #dd#kūṭa-stho vijitendriyaḥ#/dd# #dd#yukta ity ucyate yogī#/dd# #dd#sama-loṣṭrāśma-kāñcanaḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=jñāna&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#jñāna#/i# — by acquired knowledge; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vijñāna&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vijñāna#/i# — and realized knowledge; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tṛpta&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tṛpta#/i# — satisfied; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ātmā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ātmā#/i# — a living entity; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kūṭa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kūṭa-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sthaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sthaḥ#/i# — spiritually situated; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vijita&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vijita-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=indriyaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#indriyaḥ#/i# — sensually controlled; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yuktaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yuktaḥ#/i# — competent for self-realization; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=iti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#iti#/i# — thus; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=ucyate&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#ucyate#/i# — is said; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=yogī&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#yogī#/i# — a mystic; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=sama&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#sama#/i# — equipoised; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=loṣṭra&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#loṣṭra#/i# — pebbles; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=aśma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#aśma#/i# — stone; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kāñcanaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kāñcanaḥ#/i# — gold. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#A person is said to be established in self-realization and is called a yogī [or mystic]when he is fully satisfied by virtue of acquired knowledge and realization.
