The instruments of work, the work itself and the worker are called the constituents of work. Any work done by any human being has these elements. Before one acts, there is some impetus, which is called inspiration. Any solution arrived at before work is actualized is a subtle form of work. Then work takes the form of action. First one has to undergo the psychological processes of thinking, feeling and willing, and that is called impetus. Actually the faith to perform acts is called knowledge. The inspiration to work is the same if it comes from the scripture or from the instruction of the spiritual master. When the inspiration is there and the worker is there, then actual activity takes place by the help of the senses. The mind is the center of all senses, and the object is work itself. These are the different phases of work as described in #i#Bhagavad-gītā#/i#. The sum total of all activities is called accumulation of work. #/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#jñānaṁ jñeyaṁ parijñātā#/dd# #dd#tri-vidhā karma-codanā#/dd# #dd#karaṇaṁ karma karteti#/dd# #dd#tri-vidhaḥ karma-saṅgrahaḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=jñānam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#jñānam#/i# — knowledge; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=jñeyam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#jñeyam#/i# — the objective of knowledge; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=parijñātā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#parijñātā#/i# — the knower; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tri&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tri-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vidhā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vidhā#/i# — of three kinds; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=karma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#karma#/i# — of work; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=codanā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#codanā#/i# — the impetus; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=karaṇam&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#karaṇam#/i# — the senses; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=karma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#karma#/i# — the work; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kartā&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kartā#/i# — the doer; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=iti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#iti#/i# — thus; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=tri&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#tri-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vidhaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vidhaḥ#/i# — of three kinds; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=karma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#karma#/i# — of work; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=saṅgrahaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#saṅgrahaḥ#/i# — the accumulation. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#Knowledge, the object of knowledge, and the knower are the three factors that motivate action; the senses, the work and the doer are the three constituents of action. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# #p#There are three kinds of impetus for daily work: knowledge, the object of knowledge, and the knower.
