Such population depends on the chastity and faithfulness of its womanhood. As children are very prone to be misled, women are similarly very prone to degradation. Therefore, both children and women require protection by the elder members of the family. By being engaged in various religious practices, women will not be misled into adultery. According to Cāṇakya Paṇḍit, women are generally not very intelligent and therefore not trustworthy. So, the different family traditions of religious activities should always engage them, and thus their chastity and devotion will give birth to a good population eligible for participating in the #i#varṇāśrama#/i# system. On the failure of such #i#varṇāśrama-dharma#/i#, naturally the women become free to act and mix with men, and thus adultery is indulged in at the risk of unwanted population. Irresponsible men also provoke adultery in society, and thus unwanted children flood the human race at the risk of war and pestilence. #/p# #/div# #/div# please wait#div class="mw-parser-output"# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TEXT_40"#TEXT 40#/span##/h4# #div class="devanagari"# #dl##dd#अधर्माभिभवात्कृष्ण प्रदुष्यन्ति कुलस्त्रियः ।#/dd# #dd#स्त्रीषु दुष्टासु वार्ष्णेय जायते वर्णसङ्करः ॥४०॥#/dd##/dl# #/div# #div class="verse"# #dl##dd#adharmābhibhavāt kṛṣṇa#/dd# #dd#praduṣyanti kula-striyaḥ#/dd# #dd#strīṣu duṣṭāsu vārṣṇeya#/dd# #dd#jāyate varṇa-saṅkaraḥ#/dd##/dl# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="SYNONYMS"#SYNONYMS#/span##/h4# #div class="synonyms"# #p##i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=adharma&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#adharma#/i# — irreligion; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=abhibhavāt&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#abhibhavāt#/i# — having become predominant; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kṛṣṇa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kṛṣṇa#/i# — O Kṛṣṇa; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=praduṣyanti&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#praduṣyanti#/i# — become polluted; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=kula&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#kula-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=striyaḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#striyaḥ#/i# — family ladies; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=strīṣu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#strīṣu#/i# — by the womanhood; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=duṣṭāsu&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#duṣṭāsu#/i# — being so polluted; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=vārṣṇeya&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#vārṣṇeya#/i# — O descendant of Vṛṣṇi; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=jāyate&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#jāyate#/i# — comes into being; #i##a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=varṇa&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#varṇa-#a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" class="external text" href="//vanipedia.org/wiki/Special:VaniSearch?s=saṅkaraḥ&tab=syno_o&ds=1"#saṅkaraḥ#/i# — unwanted progeny. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="TRANSLATION"#TRANSLATION#/span##/h4# #div class="translation"# #p#When irreligion is prominent in the family, O Kṛṣṇa, the women of the family become polluted, and from the degradation of womanhood, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, comes unwanted progeny. #/p# #/div# #h4##span class="mw-headline" id="PURPORT"#PURPORT#/span##/h4# #div class="purport"# #p#Good population in human society is the basic principle for peace, prosperity and spiritual progress in life.
